Do you take the collar holders out of your casual button downs?

I bought some dirt cheap button downs today to wean myself off of frumpy t shirts and they all have plastic collar things? I should take these out right? lol

In theory those flimsy things are to hold the collar in shape. But in cheap shirts, they are so crappy that they do almost nothing. You're better off buying metal collar stays.

perhaps the OP means button-up shirts and not button down collars?

I like to use brass collar stays, the plastic ones don't hold up well and don't always give your collar that straight edged look it should. My promlem is that I forget to take them out when doing the laundry and like socks for most people they disapear by the time i'm finished, I have lost many a good pair that way.
