I know the technical difference between them, which is the sizing of the neck, but why is it out of all the neck sizes, this range of 15.75 and 16 exist?

Is 0.25 inch really a difference to gauge which will fit better? i am currently looking into the lot of (made in italy) borrelli shirts that Lance has. I dont know the slim factor of these as of yet, but im wondering if the 15.75 dress shirts will have a visual difference in slim fit compared to the 16 or are they just too similar that it wouldnt matter which one you pick?

Shirts go from 14.5 to 15 to 15.5 to 15.75 to 16 to 16.5 to 17 and so forth.

im thinking it's because the plethora of men out there fall in that 15.5-16 range so they made the 15.75 to further differentiate. i dont know

I'm thinking you hit the nail on the head in your last line.

It exists because it's a dead-on European size 40, which I believe is one of most popular (or THE most popular) sizes.
39 is a close approximation of 15.5, and 41 is a close approximation of 16, but 15.75/40 is just right.

ETA: in other words, a size 15.75 shirt in all likelihood is a shirt that is sized as a European size 40 and then sold in Imperial system countries as 15.75.

You just answered your own question with that last line, that is exactly why they do this. You will also see shirts that say 15.5/16 at the same time wich is also the same thing as 15.75.
