Organic sugar, agave juice are vegan substitutes for sugar.

Some wines are filtered over fish guts, so those wines are not vegan. How far "vegans" take it varies a lot. Personally, I drink wine and I drink beer. I'm trying to cut out sugar but it's hard.

I haven't bought anything made of leather or silk since becoming vegan, but yes I do wear leather shoes that I bought years ago. I'm still clueless as to where to get a pair of good vegan boots. If you have any suggestions, I welcome them.

She should read Catching Fire by Richard Wrangham. The author argues that cooking food makes it more nutritious, not less. He gives a different perspective. But hey, whatever floats her boat. Caloric restriction increases lifespan...

I'm vegetarian most weekdays, actually. I tend to stick to a simple vegetable soup or salad for lunch and dinner M-Th, but that's so I can go meat and foie crazy on the weekends, and on the off weekday when I get bored.

Can vegans take medication that was developed through animal testing or chicken egg derived vaccines? If not, the world may be better off from their death from illness.
