I just purchased two Armani Collezioni suits and would appreciate opinions on dress shirts.

The Zegnas are retailed at Neiman Marcus for $435 each and I tried one of them on, and I have to say I wasn't very impressed for $435--but the main issue is in the sleeves--they didn't feel comfortably long enough. The sales associate at Neiman Marcus measured me as a 17 neck but he didn't measure my sleeves; I'm 6-2 230 lbs. and have very long arms; sleeves NEVER feel long enough to me and 35-36 length are hard to find.

Anyway I went ahead and bought 2 of the Zegnas but I'm planning on returning them when my suits are completed. I walked into Nordstrom and the sales associate mentioned David Donahue--she says their sleeve lengths tend to run longer, but what mainly impresses me is that the shirts look good enough and are priced at $135 each--on my budget I can basically buy 6 DD shirts for the price of 2 Zegnas.

Any thoughts on this? Anybody have DD shirts? I have read reviews--mostly favorable. Only knock on them that I've read is that the collars are kinda shoddily constructed.

Thoughts on the Zegnas? They're made in Turkey. Was a little disappointed in that, too, even though I'm not even sure if it matters.

I sell David Donahue shirts in our store and season after season they sell very well with many repeat customers. Very well made (China) at $135.00 and they also have a great stock program and a seasonal program with up to 37" sleeves and fantastic formal shirts.
I've never experienced any problems with the collars in the past 2 1/2 years we have sold them.

I've had great luck with Canali dress shirts @ Nordstrom Rack. I'd look there - they are usually $110-$130. I prefer their angle cut barrel cuffs.

Zegna dress shirts are fine but I prefer the aesthetics and buttons of canali more

Thank you for the replies. Over the weekend I returned the Zegnas to Neiman Marcus and went to Nordstrom and bought 6 Donahues and 1 Hugo Boss dress shirt. Really like the DDs--5 of the 6 are trim cut and was surprised how well they fit me (I'm 6'2" 230). They fit me just tight enough in the shoulders and arms and waist to appear "tailored" for me.

For every single on the shirts they had a 36/37 sleeve.

Happier with 7 DD shirts versus the 2 Zegnas.

David Donahue suits: Nice everyday suits and shirts. Not high quality but just ok. In my opinion -

I really like David Donahue dress shirts. They are superior to Boss and others.

I find the DD collar really stands up well and lasts. I have had no problems with them.
