Just got my test shirt from proper cloth. My chest measurement is 40 inches and waist is 31. I chose my shirt to be 21.75 across and waist to be 18.75 across.
My thoughts:
1. Does my sleeve billow too much (should it be tighter?). I see some bunching at the cuff, is that an issue in your opinion?
2. How does my collar look?
3. Is my cuff width good?
4. Is my shirt sleeve length good?
Here is what Proper Cloth suggested:
1. Add a forearm pleat – adding a pleat in the forearm is what will give you a bit more freedom and range of motion in the forearms, particularly when bending at the elbow. Are the sleeves tight in the bicep or in the armpit at all? If not – then we can keep the sleeve width as is, otherwise we can increase the width slightly if needed.
2. It’s hard to tell from photos how the collar fits – you’re able to put two fingers inside the collar comfortably – or more?
3. We should decrease the cuff width as they are a bit wide – decreasing by .5" should bring them down to a much better width.
4. Increase Sleeve Length .5" – the sleeves are a bit short, and when sleeves are a bit too short it can also cause some of that tension and bunching.
5. Decrease yoke width .5" – this will bring the shoulder seams up to the top outer edges of the shoulders, rather than slightly past them
6. Increase Chest width .5" – the chest is a bit snug, which is a main cause for some of the tension lines along the chest/shoulder area.
I'm open to suggestion, they will alter/remake my shirt for free.
Thank you for your thoughts and advice on the fit.
