For C&J's own-brand shoes, I think they only used handwritten markings for Handgrades made on the 330 last. I seem to remember the 330 Handgrades having other details that are different to the post-330 ones:
1. different (nicer?) sock liner material
2. rough (sueded?) lining at the heel
3. different leather soles
I think the 330 Handgrades are better made than the post-330 ones. It's a shame most of them have been discontinued.
