I'm thinking about buying a Schott 141 and was wondering if you could tell me your opinions regarding this jacket on me. I'm skinny but have long arms so the size 34 fits well but seems to be slightly short in the sleeve length. There doesn't seem to be any other option expect spend another $700 and get a custom made jacket from Schott which I do not have the money to do.

Should I buy it or is there something better you can suggest? The jacket is not going to be warn as a "coat" to keep me warm or protected from the elements, rather it will be worn as a "casual" jacket that I can thrown on over anything and wear around at night.

Thanks for your help!

Apologies for terrible pic

The sleeves do look exceedingly short for that jacket type, which sucks because the fit is spot on everywhere else.

I don't like the jacket sleeves that go down to the end of the thumb webbing. But, I do think they should go down to the length of a dress shirt and end at the top of the thumb, fully covering the wrist. These look like a suit jacket, showing a 1/2 inch of shirt cuff.

Honestly TKP, if you don't ride a moto, I'd stay away from that one. I know Schott makes a couple other non-moto jackets with that same cafe style, the 654 I think. It's a lighter weight, and fits more slim, less boxy.

I ride which is why I have the 141. The armholes are designed with a bi-swing back, so it's more bulkier, but it's functional b/c as you stretch out to the handlebars, the jacket won't ride up, hence protecting you. Which is also why the arm length is shorter, so that it doesn't get in the way of our riding gloves. We don't want anything binding us around the wrist so as to limit range of motion. Also, it's a heavy jacket. Unless you're riding at some speed, it'll get stuffy quick. I ride without the liner, even thru the polar vortex we just had.

The 654 doesn't have that issue. It's more of what you're probably looking for. And a bit cheaper too. If it's just the style you're looking for, check out All Saints, they make some really nice stuff.

You seem like a guy who's pretty self aware of fit, style, etc. this particular jacket is more about function than it is fashion. And black leather is less forgiving for casual wear. Browns are usually more versatile...think Robert Redford.

So before you drop the cash, really think about why you want that particular style, are there similar alternatives, and does it actually fit who you are. If you end up buying one, and only wear it a couple times, they aren't that easy to dump...it's not like a blazer or a pair of boots.

Just some food for thought before you spend.

This sites got some decent chats about this item. Worth checking out.

Good luck!

Thank you for the 654 suggestion. I actually bought that jacket today and love it from what I can tell.

is that the 654?

this one looks slightly longer, the cut seems more flattering. it drapes your shape better.

the arm length looks about right too, looking at the one where you're holding the camera.

looks great TKE!
