I read this at first as 'Pink Depression Glass Whore Deserves Server.' I believe this was because I was tagged or that I have a learning disability. However, it is nice to see THAT I AM IN ON THIS JOKE AND EVERYBODY ELSE IS ON THE OUTSIDE111 (Excepting, of course, the ever narrowing 115+ IQ crowd, @imatlas et al., and the Frenchman).

Against 'the rules' but sure, it can work. However, if you have to ask the answer is probably no for you. Also, definitely not those chairs. The best examples of pairing cherry with walnut is pairing cherry with walnut burl (at it's best this has an antique vibe, sometimes has an American woodworker vibe, but usually fails). However, this a high flying act, and if you like the look you'd be better pairing off mahogany with cherry because this requires far less consideration. As @brokencycle intimated, the tones and the actual wood you plan on using will decide this issue: this is a completely brainless conversation otherwise.

If questions like these continue, I'm going to tag venesian and get into another troll battle (this tends to have a regenerative effect upon this threak: the storage poasts which followed our last brouhaha were excellent).

How dark is the walnut?
Significantly darker than the cherry.

And that's my concern with buying walnut chairs. They'll be close, but not perfect.

I'll probably just wind up with white chairs.

If they're "close, but not perfect" I would be concerned. I think you either need a lot of contrast or match. To my eye, it really comes down to the colors more than the wood type/grain. I wouldn't pair two dark stained woods (or two light stained woods) together because they'll always look off to my mind.

Please don't. Not unless you want your dwelling to look like a dentists waiting room.

Maybe I'll get green ones so it will look like a McDonald's.

Ok. The ones you poasted above are really bad. I'm pretty sure we had chairs like that at kindergarten in the far-off days of my youth. But what the **** do I know? All of my furniture is IKEA.

I honestly just can't pick a dining chair. If I had more money to spend, it would be easier, but I also need a sofa, light fixtures, rugs, etc. Right now I'm leaning towards getting cheap stackable indoor/outdoor plastic ones.

You could say that about almost any bent ply dining chair.

Leaning towards something like this. Gipsy chair. Whenever I decide on what I actually want, they become outdoor chairs.

If anyone wants to go in a on a big order we can get knockoffs for $10/pc from alibaba
