I'm thinking of getting a Clegg Leatherworks English briefcase. I can't decide on whether to get the tumbled leather or harness leather version. Any comments from people who have either or both? How do they compare in look, feel, weight, colour, durability, tendency to pick up stains, aging characteristics?

Lol it has been a year. Since you are in Australia it may be understandable.

I am thinking about English Briefcase Harness Belting Leather.

No, but I'm still thinking about it.

Wow!

You have three posts in two years and yet manage to respond to the comment above yours in 4 hours?!?! (Also please note I know I also have almost no posts, just impressed with the quickness of us lurkers.)

Also Frank Clegg stuff is gorgeous and a very good value.

A former co-worker had one of the bridle leather briefcases from them and I was always jealous of it. There is usually a reason why a smaller company like them stay in business for so long (especially before the internet!).

Indeed... but I still haven't had any comments on the harness belting leather vs tumbled leather!

I ordered some leather samples from Clegg. I can only tell that Harness Belting is more firm than Tumbled. I would guess that the Harness Belting one will be self-standing, while Tumbled is not. Personally I feel that Harness Belting gives the impression of a higher quality.
