Car broken into, now a small deliberate hole in interior?

So my car was broken into the other night (smashed out driver side window). It's a 2 door Honda Civic, and now there is a small square hole in the interior plastic of the B pillar, about 6" above the carpet. It is inconspicuous and seems to have been cut quickly. There is nothing apparent IN the hole, just the gap between the interior plastic and outer metal.

Now I can't say for sure the hole was created by the crook, but would the crook have any reason to do this? I've never noticed the hole before up until I was poking around cleaning up glass.

The paranoid part of my mind is turning...

Without a doubt you need to run a quick scan to detect any listening devices that might have been planted. I'd also be checking for gps gizmos.
