Please? Lot of watch fans here, so would be nice to have a small sub forum rather than jamming it all into one or two huge threads. What do you think?

Might as well have a sub-forum for ties and maybe one for shirts. C'mon!, the forum is organized in categories/areas of interest not specific items.

Well, to be fair, watches are a bit different from ties and shirts. Unlike the latter, the former hold value and are far more tradable and collectible. Watches are also a far more technical subject matter than is in fitting with CM.

Holding value and being collectible are not linked to the need for s subforum though, + most watches lose value once they're out of the store and very few of them gain any. A little bit like SW&D or the rare sneakers market.
Technical subject matter: once again, not an argument for changing the way we categorize things on styleforum. Hell I even disagree with your point: the intricacy of clothing production can be discussed in very technical terms and going in depth is definitely possible. Just like with watches it is not necessary for its enjoyment, in fact the technical intricacy of watches is even more irrelevant to their functioning, aesthetic appeal and durability than for clothing. Just like with clothing the idea of quality is more relevant than quality itself.

Right now in CM there are two popular threads on watches, one is more "technical" than the other, but both are focused on the the aesthetic/sartorial aspects related to CM. I'm sure there could be a more SWD focused one as well. In any case none seem to venture deeply into WIS territory. It's all about context.
