Hi,

I am in the market for a new pair of button boots. I really wanted the Black Fleece Black Calf Button Boot but I cant find them anywhere. Does anyone know of any other good makers that make a style of a button boot?

Best, E

On the ready made end, I only know of Zak in Vienna.

Perfetto of Japan does them, apparently. Don't know where they're sold in the US. On the budget side, you can get the Stacy Adams Madison as a button boot. This is not the most expensive leather but the Madison is a very old and elegant last.

Goddamnit! Now I really, really want some of those tweed balmoral boots!!

The Stacy Adams boot, whilst it looks alright, is actually a faux-button boot as I think that it has a zip on the other side. It makes it much, much easier to put on and take off (and you don't need to buy a button hook), but it's not the genuine item.

Nasser Vies in Toronto Canada does a lot of these. Bespoke, probably priced comparably to RTW.

I recall the Black Fleece boot having faux-buttons with a side zipper.

OT, but wow, a number of those are quite nice. They're striking enough to be visually interesting but not "stunning". Not an everyday thing, but once in a while would be damn fine.

DWFII, it is funny you mention Nasser Vies, I literally stumbled across his shop on Saturday and went in to speak to him. Very nice man and wonderful shoes and boots. Excellent prices.

I've been thinking about what to order from him for the last 4 days. The button boots are certainly interesting.

To the OP, you can see an example of Nasser's button boots here, just scroll down:

Before discovering Nasser, I was considering Europe for custom shoes. It's nice to have a local artisan in my own city who I can use.

Best of all - no gemming

He does the fabric top button boots too, IIRC. I like the fact that he uses real shoe button buttons.

^ Sorry guys, but I find his button boots ugly. These, on the other hand, are superb:

What are the prices for his shoes/boots? Does he have a website with pictures of his work?

If you do decide to go with him please let us know how it turns out.
