So I've been meaning to post pictures of my before/after RRDS. Long story short: 6 months almost on the nose of university wear -- i.e. not a ton of aggressive wear (no skating here). Saw some decent fading coming in, and also they were smelling, so I washed them.

Before:

Now, the wash was kind of a disaster. Washed them inside out, on warm, and gave them a spin cycle. I wasn't upset if the creases washed out, it's all about the fading for me. Anyways, they were still caked in soap ****, so I had to rinse them again, just threw them in, couldn't do it inside out, on cold. So the jeans are super-soft now and I don't know if I'll get much more fading. They don't feel raw at all. But I'm fine with that because I really like how they came out ...

... except for the scars behind the ankles! I HATE that! First, it just goes to show you how much these jeans will stretch and shrink. The thick tears on the backs are where I was originally cuffing the jeans. Once the waist loosened, I was stepping on the cuffs (a lot, apparently) and made new cuffs.

But the shrinkage after wash is so dramatic, that these are just a hair too short. I was going to get them hemmed, but there's no need! They're not unwearably short ... they fall like .5 or 1 CM shorter than I'd like. But I HATE that tear on the back.

Anyone know how to get rid of it? I can't think of anything that can be done, and I think patching would look rediculous.

patching is the only way to go, cut up some old denim or call Nudie up and get their denim repair kit, i think its still free and the denim that comes with it matches.

Huh, I never knew you could get a repair kit directly from Nudie. I wore a hole in the crotch of my RRDS after a year or so of constant wear and have been debating on how to go about fixing it.

For some reason, that's exactly what all the "one wash" nudies that they sell look like. I see one wash slim jim or svens for under $100 online sometimes but then see the back of the jean with the little tears like that. Makes you wonder why they do that when they already have predistressed ones.
