I am going to start an internship with some eco-hippy types shortly, and will probably have interviews with various other groups of hippies for other internships and possibly masters degrees.
So I submit the questions -

What do you wear to an interview when the interviewers really want to be off wearing something made of sustainably sourced, fair trade hemp and hugging a tree?

And what might constitute eco-hippy business casual?

I interned with a very eco-concious company with a TV series on Nat Geo and everyone just wore casual clothes everyday. Jeans, shorts, t's, whatever. Even the CEO.

I considered this, it would save on washing and so be very eco-friendly and make my position clear to potential interviewers and colleagues, but it is very cold here. I also have to consider the commute to and from work and the legality of walking around nude.

Also London is very much a black shoes for business place, and I am worried that black shoes and no clothes might not look good with my complexion.

I think that something that goes to the ankle or above, like Chelseas or balmoral boots, could address this issue.

This is an excuse to wear brown in town.

here's an actual answer: if you think a suit would be too much, go with a blazer and khakis.

there is more risk to being too dressed down than there is to being too dressed up. they know you won't wear it every day, and it shows respect.

Be sure to remove the white gloves before the interview starts. Placing them on the table in front of you is acceptable.

What's wrong with suits in this case? Wool is natural.
