Briefcase/work-bag for law firm

I'll keep it short: I'm headed to a business casual firm this summer; looking for something clean, professional, fairly minimal. I do like the look of the fancy-pants lawyer bags like Frank Clegg or Lotuff but (a) it's a bit outside my budget and (b) I feel like the full-on "lawyer bag" might be a bit much for someone just starting out.

I'm looking to spend under $500; I have browsed quite a bit and narrowed it down to a few top choices. Thoughts on a canvas bag like the Filson 256 for everyday use? I'll mostly be wearing slacks, button-down, no tie; figure I'll be in a suit every now and again. Is the Filson too casual to wear with a suit? Maybe the 256 in black? The other one I'm considering is the Linjer Soft Briefcase in black or mocha.

Generally just looking for guidance on what's appropriate in terms of formality, but recommendations on color choice or other products are welcome as well. Thanks!

If you're willing to spend a bit more, I really love this briefcase http://www.nomanwalksalone.com/inde...case-cement-canvas-and-sol-brown-leather.html. You want to spend under $500 so that probably isn't an option, but just thought I would throw it out there. Personally, the Filson 256 is my everyday bag. Suits, sport coats, casual...it works with everything. For the law firm, I would go with navy. The Linjer briefcase is also very nice.

Oh, the Fat Carter is really nice, good call. And thanks for validating my interest in the Filson! The fact that I can get one for $185 on ebay is awfully tempting... though I still love the Linjer. Choices, choices.
