Hi everyone. I'm looking to purchase a new briefcase and would like some advice. I'm a young professional in a client-facing business job, so I'm looking for something that is nice and timeless but not overly formal or ostentatious.

Wants:
  • 1) At least 3.5" to 4" deep. (I typically carry a 14" laptop, charger, mouse, 0.25" of papers, and misc. small things, but I like the flexibility of being able to carry additional papers, a book, small umbrella, etc.)
  • 2) I fly twice a week, so it has to be able to fit a suitcase handle through it (so I can have a free hand when walking through airports). E.g., either through the handles or through a luggage strap on the back of the bag.
  • 3) Easy/convenient to open (e.g., zipper or clasps, not belts)
  • 4) Multiple smaller pockets for misc. items
  • 5) No hard-shell briefcases and no lock style flap bags (e.g., SAB). (nothing against them, just not a style that suits a young professional in my opinion)
  • 6) No visible logo, unless it is very small and/or mainly a symbol (sorry JW Hulme).
  • Budget is ~$850 (but doesn't mean I have to spend that much)

My dream bag would be a Clegg English Briefcase with a luggage strap on the back (see #2) and clasps instead of functional belt buckles (see #3). I really like how the bag manages to look incredibly professional and timeless while also balancing the informal notes from the flap and belts. In lieu of this non-existent (?) perfect bag, I also like Clegg's Zip-Top briefcase.

Before I pull the trigger, I want to make sure my ideal bag doesn't exist somewhere and that there's nothing else I should be considering besides the Clegg Zip-Top. So far I've explored SAB, JW Hulme, Jack Georges, Glaser Designs, Filson, Ghurka, Mulholland, Korchmar, Saddleback, and Henry Tomkins. Jack Georges has a nice looking zip top, but it sounds like the Clegg is worth the extra money (and is more stylish). I also saw the Berluti zip top, but that's a wee bit outside my price range :).

Anything else I should be considering? Thanks!
