Do you guys like them? I'm seeing some shoes I really like, but the soles are a little off-putting. I don't understand why they started doing this. I'm all for bold colors, but solid blue soles is a little much imo. Still, they have some nice lasts.

Yes. Too flashy for me. I guess as you wear them down, they'll become more roughed up and have a less bright finish. Maybe then, they'd be okay.

I like Mantellassi though, esp. the Norvegese welt stuff.

Sutor is good,I may get **** for saying this but it is better than Vass and can be bought cheaper. Having said that, I am not sure what the difference is among various lines, they seem to have shoes with different sole colors and nail patterns.

There is no "don't care" option... all leather soles end up the same when you wear 'em down/topy them, and no one looks at the soles of your shoes while you're walking anyway.

For the record, I don't have any problem with brown, blue, polka-dot or whatever soles on shoes; it's the quality of the construction/thickness of the sole that counts more than the colour of the final coat of paint they get.

How often to people look at your soles...?

Usually I'm the only male in the room noting other people's shoes at all.

No, I can't even begin to imagine such a thing. If you can find a better shoe with a normal sole I would.

I like the blue soles but that paint comes off really quickly and it stains so avoid water+light colored carpets.

I do, how else can you tell if the shoes you've been admiring from across the room have leather soles?

I doubt I'm alone around here...

Same here, but I doubt most other people in any given room are like those on SF is my point.

The other thing I don't get is the high prevalence of reverse-stitching on the uppers. They make the shoes look like frankenstein imo. It's a weird company. They have some really nice stuff, and some other stuff that is just

Every brand does. Mantellassi are very Italian, I happen to love them and think that at "street" prices you would be hard pressed to do better. Even at full retail they represent a great value versus their peers. Italian shoes are what they are, if you want cap toes, ther are 35 english brands that do those.
