I went to the one in Roppongi Hills - in addition to the great food, the decor was beautiful as well. Thanks for the suggestions, we'll aim to visit those places during our time here.

L'atelier! Excellent place; I also went there. Did you get an urge to pick up the giant glossy apples? My partner at the time and I joked about it and the waiter came over and quite solemnly told us that each apple costs around $3000 US and that we should not pick them up (but that we were more than welcome to take photos next to it).

Reminder to Melbourne people - especially those around the inner south of the city and conservative business dress

Wear for Success is having a SALE
Friday 22nd Nov between 12-7 and Saturday 23rd November 10-4 at our premises at 149 Dorcas Street South Melbourne.

Wear for Success is the only not for profit organisation in Victoria specialising in providing free, quality work clothing and grooming advice to disadvantaged men, as well as women. This may include suits, ties, shoes or other appropriate work-related clothing. For many men, the self-esteem that comes with quality clothes and a secure job is the starting point on their journey to a better life.

The November Sale offers up fabulous frocks and lots of summer pants and tops, some priced as low as $5. Shoes, shoes with straps and high, high heels, all colours, and all sizes. Cool summer knitwear, looks great over print dresses and skirts. This sale introduces men’s new nifty looking dinner suits, all dressed and ready to go. These are very limited, so best to pop in on the Friday.

It’s fun, it’s great value and it’s helping us maintain our service to the disadvantaged people we help.

All the $$ from the sale of clothing go toward purchasing suitable clothing for the people who are referred to our service from Job Networks, Salvation Army, Refugee Centres, various rehab organisations and job assistance programs.

The clothes are at BETTER than opshop prices and are in better condition. The stuff that goes into the sale is usually the quality and brand name stuff that might not be just right for an initial interview at a basic job. EG Linen jacket. By selling this clothing we raise money to purchase items which are in short supply or we don't get donated much - like shoes - we buy new old stock special deal shoes for $20 for our people and surprisingly we are always always very short of plain white shirts.

If you buy something you help us purchase needed items. We also accept donations of clothing in good condition. Especially white shirts in all sizes - Large Regular and Small.

Although as a service we help far more men than women we have a much larger stock of womens wear, including shiploads of barely worn fashion shoes of all types, dresses, skirts etc - perhaps 20 or 30 times the Mens For Sale section volume .

So bring along your mother, sister, girlfriend, cousins, your wife and/or your mistress - they will have the most fun. Remember we are talking prices around $5 - $20 for designer clothes.

Mens suits are limited in number but I have picked out a few that might interest punters here..

1 x Suit - Corneliani size 54 Subtle grey with blue windowpane single breasted.
1 x Suit - Lauren (Ralph Lauren) Made in Canada 41R medium beige colour
1 x Suit - Zegna DB Charcoal mid grey with faint pinstripes size 56
1 x Jacket /Sport Coat - Zegna grey - wool cashmere 42L
1 x Incotex twill trousers size 56 beige

There are other sports coats and casual jackets.

There are a bunch of 50 or so NWT Dinner suits - some with very large sizes eg over 44. These are not brand names and not floating canvas etc. Some trousers have elastic waist expanding side tabs. There are a few styles - some peaked lapels, some notched a few shawls. All lapels satin. Will suit that odd occasion you need a dinner suit or may suit someone you know for a school formal.

There are many many mens shirts in good condition.

After you have picked through the stuff at Wear For Success, and purchased a few amazingly spiffy and cheap, handbags, shoes and outfits for you beloved female friends, you can wander around to Azzaro and look a what they have , have a coffee, or wander up to Beggar Man Thief Shoes store on Clarendon Street. Then up to the market for some Dims Sims.

All in all a great clothes day out. And you help others.

You can ask me for me details if you need them
http://www.wearforsuccess.org.au/news.html

Also don't forget you can organise a collection of clothes at your workplace - for men and women - just get in touch with me or lennier and we'll tell you how and assist.

To get there: you can drive, ride a bike or catch No1 tram from Flinders Street to Port Melb Beach - it wiggles around the arts center and ABC then stops right in front of Wear For Success. Or from Collins you can catch a tram that turns into Spencer street goes up Clarendon and get off and walk down Dorcas. Docklands just catch the Spencer Street tram to South Melb.

Will check this out for sure... working from home on Friday so should be able to get in. Would be stoked if I could score a dinner suit.

Wear For Success gives men confidence and helps them look and feel the part when they go for interviews.

But Wear For Success needs your help – it needs mens shoes desperately.

Imagine preparing for an interview. It's your first opportunity to secure employment in months. You put on your shirt and your suit. You tie your tie and you put on your socks. You go to put on your shoes, but the toe is scuffed and unpolished (your big toe nearly popping out), the heel is worn and the laces frayed. You feel embarrassed and your confidence is low because all you can think about is what your interviewer will think of how you look and why you decided to wear those tired, old shoes.

This is a scenario that hundreds of men face daily. That’s why we’re calling for your help.

If you have black or brown leather lace up or slip-on shoes in good condition and that you no longer need, please donate them to Wear For Success.
We’re not prejudiced though – if you have any appropriate mens dress or training shoes/boots that you no longer wear, then please donate them as well.

Again contact myself or lennier for more info or help

Would an old pair of black cap toe Florsheims be appropriate?

I've got a whole bunch - I got some from a cough Highland Shop cough not far from me - they have good socks and wool ties too, if you like that sort of thing, and have kilts, jackets, bloody ghillies, etc etc . The bloke who runs it speaks with a burrrrr but strangely I suspect he isnt authentic (no true scot etc etc ) as I've never seen him drinking Irn Bru or Bucks or in trackies, or with *** in his mouth in the shop. And I think I even got some pins in various sizes from Spotlight - if you are desperate I can send you some - I'd hate to see you not looking hip.
Thanks brother. I'll see if I can't find the one I had if not I'll hit you up. Actually I knew a Scottish fella used to always wear grey trackies, one *** lit from the stub of the last, 2 scotches in at 10am... We got on.

In other news new shoes arrived. I'll see if I can't snap a pic or two.

Classic day ahead...

The Ashes Day One at the Gabba, The German Club for lunch, let's hope our boys stick it to em.

Who knows they might be handing out MJ Bale sample bags today, as MJ are kitting out the Australian team

In SW&D news, inspired by http://putthison.com/post/61676816849/the-wallet-i-use-with-jeans-since-my-post-on, I got myself one of these for those raw denim days - definitely will not be to everyone's taste though.

It is quite funny to think that random Japanese man is now a reference point on a very popular style blog. Hope he finds out somehow.
