I've read a lot of threads dancing around the issue of which is a better shoe, the original Alden tassel loafer or the Alden for Brooks tassel loafer. Does anyone have a definitive answer on this issue? Does it change from calf to cordovan?

Other than the foxing on the heel and the half lining on the Brooks, is there any real difference? And, is the difference enough to justify the price difference if you can get the Brooks at 25% off during the semi-annual sale.

Thanks for the help.

I don't think the BB ones are different from the Aldens in any way except for the foxing. The BB ones should be fully lined. Only the BB LHS are unlined/half-lined (an odd term for shoes), IIRC.

I like the look of the BB ones because of the foxing but would probably go with whichever was cheaper if the price differential exceeded $20 in either direction.
