Just bought a pair of Alden Shell Cordovan 986 LHS a few weeks ago. I bought a 1/2 size smaller than my normal size. The fit is very comfortable all around. However, after wearing the shoes 3 or 4 times, I still experience some heel slip. Should I have gotten a size smaller (I think this may be too snug) or will it go away if I waited long enough? Now, I just have to tape a piece of thin band-aid behind my heels to fix the problem.

i have about 15 pairs of alden and yes the heel slips when you first wear them, in my case it only takes 1 to 2 times wearing. you might have a hald size to big. ggod luck.

My very first pair of Alden shells was the LHS shoe. It fits like a glove, and is in my usual size.

Well, I am afraid if I'd ordered a half size smaller, the shoes would not fit comfortably. The current sized shoes fit my feet very comfortably. They just have small amount of heel slippage. I am just hoping the slippage will go away once the shoes have completely broken in.

I am at the moment wearing a pair of whiskey shell LHS purchased two years ago. At first my heel slipped out of the shoe with every step. I thought I'd gotten them a half size too big. Yet they fit comfortably across the ball of foot.

Now they flex with my foot and the heel slippage is gone. A great fit. And yes, it took the better part of two years, maybe fifty days of wear. Worth the wait.

I had the same problem with a pair of Aldens, tassel loafers but returned them as I thought they were half a size too big. Maybe I should have kept them
