A good casual shoe

What is a good casual shoe to wear when you go out to lunch during the day, a quick run to the store for groceries. Something preferably leather, something that still looks casual enough to go to the mall in, but something that can still be called formal when compared to a tennis shoe or sneaker.
I ask this because it is time for me to get a new pair of all purpose shoes, and shoe shopping is the worst type their is(in my opinion). I do however need to stress that the shoes are a bit more on the cheaper side, nothing over $150ish.

Ecco Seawalkers. Bought mine several years back and they still look new. Super comfortable, they feel like tennis shoes and the style is classic casual. It's right there at your upper range - pay the few extra bucks you won't regret it.

I really enjoy my Ralph Lauren loafers. They can usually be found on ebay for a reasonable price.
