Well, it would depend on your personal preferences. I get all my trousers with a single forward pleat, regardless of the weight of the cloth.

Well, I have a pair of single-pleated trousers made from 15.5 oz Dormeuil whipcord and haven't had any problems.

Edited to add:

What 15 oz whipcord are you looking at making the trousers out of?

Strange. I don't have anything made out of fresco to compare them to, but my whipcords are pretty bulletproof. I think they've been pressed once in the last 3 years and they look like new.

I find that frescoes are often so good at shedding creases that they tend to lose the ones I want to keep.

Which fresco and which weight are you referring to? Just curious. I have made it up for others but not worn fresco and would like to try one.

To the op, I have both styles and both makers, Holland & Sherry and Dormeuil.

With the pleat I do a higher rise. Lower rise for the plain front and what I call a western pocket. Very casual.

10oz from Holland & Sherry, and perhaps Minnis also. It's a very useful weight and sheds wrinkles very well, but I find the trouser legs get a little tubular after a while. Not a deal-breaker-- just a minor point of weirdness. To anyone adept at pressing trousers it should present no difficulty whatever.

That is less of a problem with the jacket, of course, although there are differences there between fresco and other lightweight fabrics.

I noticed and was surprised how quickly the crease would disappear on a 9 ounce minis Fresco. Wanted to know if the weight matters or a certain mill is better at Frescos.

First heavyweight tweed and lightweight shetland, now lightweight fresco. Is nothing sacred? If this keeps up, I won't feel confident about getting anything in my fabric pile made up.

with much knowledge comes much pain

Let me clarify, not to miss the forest for the trees.

Tailor: Breanish is difficult to work with.

Client: I like wearing them, they are light weight.

Client: My fresco sheds wrinkles but cannot discern a wrinkle from a crease.

Tailor asks: Light weight Fresco or heavy weight as well? or What is the best weight of a Fresco? No answer posted at present.

Unanimous: certain Charvet ties snag.

I am conducting research from an audience with relative experience to my occupational field.

Sorry to have gone off from the nature of this thread.

As with most things, it comes down to choosing which problem you really want to solve.

I have 22 ounce cords with pleats. Not a problem.
