Borrelli shirts - really that good? Who really makes best shirts in world?

I've had three. Two had the thick buttons and one the thinner buttons. All bought from STF. Plus points: I love the collars - a soft collar, with a nice spread and long collar points Lovely fabric Nice details e.g. on the gusset and of course the buttons They have an amazing colour selection...

Marks and Spencer - fully canvassed £500 worth it? material?

I have one of these - it's a great suit for the money. Cloth is from Zegna, cut is slim but not as slim as (say) Ralph Black Label James. It's a herringbone type cloth, lovely quality, medium weight. If you're worried about the "brand" you can get a Paul Smith / Boss suit from the...

    Shirt Quality Question

I would say the main differences are: Fabric Feel the fabric on (for example) a Kiton shirt. It's not the same as the CK. It's softer and has a "nap" to it. Quality of buttons Truzzi/Barba are good example - the buttons are thick, iridescent mother of pearl. As opposed to thin, brittle...

    What's your most expensive pair?

GBP400 on some C&J handgrades. They was full price from Jermyn St. I've never been in EG or Lobb as I think 400 is my ceiling.

Experiences with Ted Baker and Thomas Pink?

Both horrible Ted Baker is like a poor man's Paul Smith / Etro. I can't believe they are charging USD800 for the suits, here in the UK they are around GBP250. In Selfridges (not great) collection of suits they are probably the worst. It's the kind of suit a 20 year old office junior would buy...

    Woodhouse of London suit

Woodhouse was a respected clothing shop in London a few years back. They seemed to disappear around 2008 but are still online. They focused quite a lot of "barryboy" casual labels; Armani Jeans, Stone Island, DG that kind of thing. If you look at their site now it's much the same. As I recall...

    The laundry thread

Get all my shirts done as a service wash. Truzzi ones must have been through the cycle about 30 times and look as new. The only ones that seemed to suffer were Pink slim fit so don't buy those any more. The laundry are much better at removing 'collar ring' than me and they come back nicely...

    London recommendations - early Feburary

Shirts Hilditch & Key, Emma Willis, Harvie Hudson (Jermyn St) Turnbull and Asser (Jermyn St although the staff in the Harrods concession are nicer) Kiton (Clifford St) if you want to break the bank Harrods and Selfridges have a good range too - Selfridges carry Truzzi, RLPL. Harrods have Zegna...

How long does it take for Charles Tyrwhitt shirts to go on sale?

$139!!! you can get a Truzzi/Barba shirt for that on STF The UK price is normally around 30GBP, so around 50USD. With dodgy conversion rates and shipping maybe USD65? I think there are better shirts around for the money, Harvie and Hudson and maybe Brooks if you can find an outlet. These...

    Quality of Paul Smith clothing?

I went through a spell of buying loads of PS London shirts a couple of years ago. I think I ended up with six. Bicester Village outlet had them at around GBP40. The prices have shot up recently. I recall buying one at RRP for GBP70 (around US110) in 2006. Now they seem to be priced at GBP120...

Help me pair a tie with this shirt!

Didn't realise Faconnable did formal clothes. Echo the comments above that the diamonds (as well as the odd hue of blue) make it look more casual I think perhaps a plain yellow or gold tie to match the thin stripe in the shirt if you are set on wearing a tie

    Exotic skins.

I've heard Kangaroo is incredibly resilient. I think it's used in the best soccer shoes now. I'm not sure if it's often used in dress shoes. No offense intended, but those shark AE's are really super ugly. Remarkably so. That's correct. Adidas uses kangaroo on some of the 'old school' models...

Is it Ok to wear French cuff shirts with the sleeves rolled up ?

I doubt most people would notice, but it's not ideal due to the extra fabric and risk of losing links For this reason in the summer I normally wear single cuffs - less hassle to roll up. Are you that short on single cuff shirts?

What are your favorite colors for shirts

For plain I prefer muted colours white, pale blue, pale pink / rose, pale yellow or ecru, lilac For stripes: White with anything bar yellow/orange Blue with anything Pink and blue Yellow and blue For checks: Blue and white Pink and white

Are my jacket sleeves too short if I can almost see my cufflinks?

Some very strange SF logic on here: 1. Links should only be worn with a coat (common SF wisdom) 2. If links stick out of a coat, the coat sleeves are too short / shirt sleeves too long So basically links shouldn't be seen??

Udeshi London-James Bond Cocktail Cuff Shirt

Have T & A phased out the turnback very recently? Got some stock specials (different size body to collar) from them about 4 months back and they were all turnback. They had the choice of single (triple button), french and turnback (double button). I'd be amazed if they phased out their...
