Carlos Santos Shoes - Feedback & Appreciation

I sized down 1/2 for a recent gmto at Noble's (the reverse stitch oxford). No regret yet. As reference, I bought the same a year or so back without sizing down. Though it was not floppy and slippy, it just did not feel good enough. Even with an insole. Hope this helps. The last is a beauty.

Nice boots and expect with a little TLC they will shine again. Suede often looks a bit scruffy on photos. They look a pair of boots I have from Pediwear (don't know CS direct, or from their home-rebrand). It is on last 333 and I sized down 1/2.

The Ultimate Vass (Footwear) Thread (Pictures, reviews, sizing, etc...)

First of all congratulations with this nice pair. Is this Vass' F-last? As to the vamp question: a little V is perfectly fine. Over time, when you have worn the shoes longer and the cork has compressed a little to you feet, it will become better. From experience: shoes that already close the V...

Both look nice, I trust you wear them in good health. Do you have information on the models? (Maybe you posted that before, but then I must have missed it).

Ah, you mean this little piece of leather at the start of the lacing. That differs per model and brand. Underneath you will find this big stitch, since it all should be kept together of course. I am a bit impartial on this: I have shoes with these half circles that are a little large and...

I think 333 is the wider and rounder of the two.

Nice to see more handgrades. Not sure what to make of the 460 last though. Looks quite square.

I have the austerity model in Bordeaux museum. Indoors it is almost almost black, and outdoors the true colours will show. I think, as stated above, this still be a respectable addition (and alternative to an all black model). Edit: just read you already have Bordeaux, and are really looking...

** Quintessential Crockett & Jones Thread ** (reviews, quality, etc...)

You are welcome. Looking a the Barley corn, the basis of UK shoe sizing, your 1/8 inch for 1/2 size corresponds approximately with the 1/3 of an inch for a whole size (see for example Barley corn for length of shoe size). My rule of thumb is that one shoe size is "somewhat less" than a cm. Maybe...

** Quintessential Crockett & Jones Thread ** (reviews, quality, etc...)

I suppose one of the important criteria is that a shoe (in particular the last the shoe is made on) should fit your feet (no heel slippage, good fitting around your instep, under the ball of your feet etc). An elongated shape, as with last 348, is then part of the model, and you either like it...

Wear them in good health. The Balmoral Oxford in suede/museum looks very versatile. The difference between the S and U Lasts is hard to see -- from your pictures it looks as if the S Last is a bit more broader / squarer at the toe tip. You took the same size for both lasts?

Thanks for the heads up! Maybe a silly question, but how is that arranged? Simply sending an email to Vass, saying that I want to have Model X they now only have on Last A on Last B?

dear all, Herewith a few 'action' shots of my Vass Budapest Oxford in three museum calf variants (gold, walnut, dark brown) on the (in)famous U-last (I note the trousers a bit off, apologies for that). Recap on sizing etc: my usual shoe size is EU42/UK8, for some brand 1/2 down. For the U-last...

The Ultimate Vass (Footwear) Thread (Pictures, reviews, sizing, etc...)

dear all, A while ago I became the lucky owner of a pair of the Budapest Oxford on the U last (full brogue in three colours of museum calf). Beautiful shoe (douze points)! I took my 'normal' size (EU42). Initially fitting was snug, and really really snug for the right foot. But with patience...

The Ultimate Vass (Footwear) Thread (Pictures, reviews, sizing, etc...)

With the recent sale, I decided to try and invest in a pair of Vass. I went for a model named "Budapest Oxford", a full brogue on the U last in three different types of museum calf (brown, walnut and gold). Sizing for the U last, I understood, could be a bit challenging, but thanks to a review...

Carlos Santos Shoes - Feedback & Appreciation

Thanks @Noblekostas So to summarize, the 362 last can be consider a little bitty generous, and sizing down is preferred? The tassel loafer looks great, nice colour too. But I need to grow first a few levels on the sartorial axis :)

Carlos Santos Shoes - Feedback & Appreciation

Gents, I am looking into acquiring a pair of CS loafers (they have some tempting patina colours), and I am looking for some data points on the last. The CS loafers are on the 362 last (I don't know if there are other lasts, this is the most common? that I see in the various retailers). What is...

The grain is indeed very nice, and quite smooth (not as bubbly as others). Thanks for the help, and hope you will get some more details!

Carlos Santos Shoes - Feedback & Appreciation

dear all, Looking through Herring's own offerings made by Carlos Santos, I noted a model (name Longdon, a suede-calf semi-brogue, see here) that looks sweet to me. It is mounted on the Z458 last, and unfortunately I don't have experience with this last. The internet also doesn't reveal too much...

Carlos Santos Shoes - Feedback & Appreciation

To keep the thread alive, some pictures of a recent GMTO from the Noble Shoe, being the split toe derby. This is model 9131, in this case mounted on the new(er) 401 last with a Dainite sole (I think this model was available in the past on the 234 last). In this GMTO, we had option for the usual...
