Boulevard brown grain from the sale last week. I sanded down the sole and applied a Vibram half sole. I'm going to turn this into a "travel shoe". It's very comfortable. I think bluchers in the 65 last were made for my foot. I find the AE shoes with the form-fitting cork super-comfortable too...- drcharlie

FedEx just delivered my two pair of Boulevard, brown grain. Took a photo and came to add this post. They look like new firsts. Will try them on now. The shoe box is a bit odd. Has a hole in and the top is attached. Good luck, everyone else who ordered them!- drcharlie

I got a FedEx notice that AE is shipping me something from their Lebanon, TN, warehouse. Could be my grain Boulevards. It says they shipped it today. Are you the guy in central IL? I grew up downstate IL too (near StL) and spent 4 years in Decatur (at Millikin). When I cuffed my trousers a few years ago, I read some threads on SF and AE. A lot of people saying "go big" ( 2 inches) on the cuffs back then. That's what I did. I'm 5'11" and about 195 lbs. Someone else was mentioning "balance." If you put the shoes on a flat table and look at the profile from the side, is the heel flat? Or is the back of the heel touching the table and the front edge of the heel elevated by a mm or so? Adding the half sole could have had no effect on the balance...- drcharlie

When you are ready to remove the half sole (either now or in a few years when it's worn), you could remove it by warming the half sole with a heat gun or hair dryer. Listed as brown burnished. I have conditioned them with Saphir Renovateur to soften the leather during the break-in process. I did not follow-up with polish. They are not a dark brown burnished, though. In its unpolished state, they look like a shade between the normal brown burnished and bourbon.- drcharlie
