Any Good Cobblers In the Seattle/Bellevue Area?

There's a cobbler in bothell that has done work for me: http://www.yourmastercobbler.com/ymc/a/build.asp?page=Home&gclid=CIzJv6_yibUCFUlxQgodfRgAcg

    The Uniqlo Thread

I don't buy it. I've been checking the same few products every day for the last two weeks, and the available selection only goes down.

    The Uniqlo Thread

Are the physical stores as bad at restocking as the e-commerce site? I know the hurricane was bad and all, but surely they have some sort of contingency plan? They're basically sold out of everything that isn't a L or XL at this point. Shirts, knits, whatever, all gone. Worse, they're running...

    Unstructured/Unlined Blazer Recommendations

I like boglioli for that kind of stuff. You can usually find their jackets for around $500 on yoox.

I ordered this http://www.uniqlo.com/us/store/made-for-all/men-corduroy-jacket/070266-39-002 this http://www.uniqlo.com/us/store/goods/074881-04-003 and this http://www.uniqlo.com/us/store/goods/072742-54-003 all size small. I'm 5'8; 39" chest, 31" waist. about 155lbs this week. The...

    J.Crew Fall/Winter 2012

Their slim shirts aren't really much slimmer than their regular fit. OK in casual untucked styles, requires tailoring otherwise. Sizing down might help, but the shoulders might get tight if you've got any muscle.

+ The Streetwear Suits and Blazers Thread +

For a primer in how to wear a suit in a streetwear style, see Tom Waits. I never wear a suit unless I'm going to a wedding or something, but I usually wear a sportcoat every day. I try to stick with unstructured stuff that you find from italian labels, since it's easy to wear them without...

    Glenn Beck selvedge

There are already several companies that make "100% american" jeans that cater to fat conservative white people. Apparently Mr. Beck doesn't know how to use Google.

    Clarks Desert Boots

The standard kiwi silicone stuff works pretty well. They'll still get damp if you really soak them, but they'll repel rain just fine.

    Name pre-SF regrettable purchases.

My biggest regrets: Things that I spent more than $500 on: - Harris tweed jacket from jcrew (shoulder pads like david byrne) - Bizzarre fitting jacket from armani exchange - Suit from men's warehouse ($950, and I thought it was such a good deal because it was made it italy!) Things that I...

Best Brands of Denim under $150

501s if you like the fit. Not really much point in anything else in that price range. The difference between a $120 pair of jeans and 501s is little to nothing. The only thing you might find that is any real difference is labor standards. You could pay $150 for a pair of jeans made by a...

    Allen Edmonds quality control

Are those supposed to be from the rough collection or something? I've bought 6 pairs of AEs, and the only ones that ever looked like that were by design (Lubbock / Neumok).

    Allen Edmonds easily scratches?

Are you sure these are scratches and not simply scuff marks from bumping your foot into something? You get rid of scuff marks by cleaning and polishing your shoes. The only way you should actually scratch a leather shoe (even a cheap one) is if you scrape it with something sharp. Jumping...

What Does Styleforum do for a living? How does this affect the way you dress?

I'm a software engineer. I could never wear a suit to work. I can get away with a sportcoat and jeans as long as everything is kept casual.

Maybe (alleged) sloppiness is a good thing?

Dressing like a lazy slob is also indicative of falling for 'marketing'. Watch any commercial targeting men. Beer, home improvement stores, sports, video games, whatever. Everybody is wearing size-too-large jeans and t shirts (or hoodies if it's cold outside), and running or basketball shoes...

new Yoox codes and sales - post them here

I don't have the exact measurements, but this isn't true. I have an LBM 1911 jacket that I had about 3 inches taken off of the sleeves at the shoulders. It's a bit pricier than having sleeves altered, and you must find a competent tailor to do the work, but it's certainly doable. I paid $95 to...

How to tell if a tailor / alterer is decent

A dry cleaner can be trusted with a few basic alterations: - Shortening sleeves on jackets with functional buttons - Hemming trousers They *mostly* do repairs though. Mending small holes, reattaching buttons, etc. If you need a jacket taken in, altered at the shoulder, or modified in any...

Do you get the suit tailored from the store you bought it at?

For department stores: Only the basics (hemming pants, shortening non-functional sleeves), only if it's included with the purchase price. For high end retailers: Just about anything, only if it's included with the purchase price. For everything else, go to a tailor. I don't mean an...

Zuckerberg's Hoodie and what your clothing says about what you think of those around you

People in sales, or people who came out of a certain (older) culture, sure. People from the engineering or design side? No. There's a small and growing group who likes to dress better, but it's by no means mainstream. There's a fine line that we're able to walk where people look at us funny...
