If you wanted the turtlenecks for warmth, another option would be sweaters with a shawl collar, that covers the back of your neck but not where your beard is. I got this one from William Lockie and it is extremely warm. They have that style available in cardigans, and cashmere as well...

Why don’t you ask him directly and report back? Someone who is constantly on the move probably puts a premium on versatile timeless pieces that can withstand the rigors of travel, and would be a good source for BIFL and travel gear recommendation.

Le Tanneur is more akin to Tumi, range-wise. When I was a child, longer ago than I cared to admit, they were a common maker of kid's school backpacks (briefcases with straps, really, "cartables"), Lancel is a bit higher but neither would I pay $1500 for. Have a look at Hosoï Paris...

And of course the Jermyn Street shirtmakers (except the poseurs at Thomas Pink). Sadly Private White VC closed its London outposts.

I'd add: Cordings on Piccadilly, makers of fine outdoors wear Walker Slater on Great Queen St near Covent Garden, good place for tweed Elliot Rhodes on Long Acre, fashion-forward belts London Undercover (2 locations, including Lamb's Conduit St), umbrellas John Smedley (several locations)...

Tim Hardy Equus Jasper Highet (got it last week, which is why it's so pristine) To my untrained eye, the Jasper Highet belt has the best stitching and finishing.

No, I haven’t tried, I am 8 time zones ahead now. I also visited both locations and lived close to the newer, sadder one before I moved from San Francisco to London, when I bought one of their backpacks as a final souvenir after 19 years of living there.
