Anyone know of any slim, almost skinny jeans in a dark grey asphalt like color? I like the color of the april 77 grey overdrives but those are too skinny for me. Also, a pair of slim/skinny jeans in a charcoal type color. I've seen a pair of drkshdw (grey and greaser/charcoal colored) and a pair...

    New clothing website...

It is. I wouldn't discourage anyone from taking a leap into starting their own line. Just take ownership of your own aesthetic not some fourth generation flogged to death look that wasn't that great in the first place Most of these "new" companies are just part of a stable of brands run by...

    Jeans sexier than jomons?

日本語が わかりますか? 日本人ですか? Yes and no. Unfortunately I always seem to get mojibake when I type Japanese here.

    Jeans sexier than jomons?

According to the page that was linked, the description says that when a group of threads is dyed and then rung out the air affects the coloring, so in the group of dyed threads the ones on the outside, getting more air, will be a different shade than those inside which are exposed to less air. I...

    Woolrich Woolen Mills FW07

I think prices will be somewhat cheaper here, where in Japan there's usually a higher markup. Not sure I agree with this. I am more familiar with Japanese markups than U.S. ones but I am pretty sure they are nearly the same. Imports ALWAYS cost more, shipping, tariffs, etc. The Japanese use a...

Blue bee sale (80% off today)

I'm not even looking to buy it. I'm asking for some kind of justification for price. They can get away with it. It's that simple and it sickens me. Maybe that is because you don't know what you are talking about? Generally for any item out there, with a few exceptions, the cost of an item is...

Custom Denim - suggestions for details

Hairy patches are kind of cool. I have an old pair of Hono jeans with a horse hair patch, always kinda liked the way it looked.

Whodini, nice explanation, very informative. You are very much right that just having a certain cotton does not make the denim great but certainly it does afftect it. Supima is very long and streaky and usually very obvious when used in denim and has that luster to it. Most heavy denims use...

Not to me. Anything past 10.5" should be "high" or "classic" rise as it is 501 territory. Yeah, that is kind of how I see it too... Low-rise would be around 8" or less with 9-10 being mid. 10.5/11" seems like a 'normal' or classic rise and maybe 12"+ would be a high style like 80's rise...

Buying Japanese Selvedge denim (by the yard)

Sorry I can't be of any help there, I'm not a textile dealer but rather have a line of clothing. The fabric goes from the mill to the factory and not through our hands. I just thought those prices cheap for any kind of good denim. They have shuttle looms in China now as well but it is in no way...

    favorite washed denim?

Hysteric Glamour Denim has some of the best washes I have seen. Never seen them outside of Japan but they are fantastic. Also will say that PRPS has some good ones as well. Earnest Sewn looks ok until you feel the fabric anyways... at least recently anyways (saw them at D & A a week ago in LA).

Buying Japanese Selvedge denim (by the yard)

Hello all, first time post for me. I work in the industry and 7.99 a yard for 21oz selvage seems insanely cheap. I buy direct in Japan (either kuroki or kaihara usually, sometimes hishitomo) and for 25 rolls I pay more than $14 a meter for quality fabric. Decent non-selvage goes for around $7-8...
