    What about small boats?

That's cool too. Reduce, reuse...all that. As long as it floats and is small. It's about the adventure, right?

    What about small boats?

Awesome. I was there on Sunday, just as everyone was closing up shop, and didn't see that one. Sounds like a great price. Probably a little low because it has a modern motor on it, and some cosmetics? That seems to be the price range for those. It's what, about 16'?

    Cars We Drive!

Admittedly, the production grille that came later seems more balanced, an almost inverted and widened version of the pre-production cars. Maybe it was the painted headlight/fender "lashes" on the '52 factory race cars that stole my heart. Oh, and the leather hood latch. The "teeth" are awesome.

Cool furniture, design objects and desiderata

I have a bit of an obsession with patina and things being broken-in and well-worn, yet still functional. Maybe it started as a kid going to the Smithsonian and the funky old libraries and museums in my town. These often quiet places were filled with cabinets and display cases constructed of...

    Cars We Drive!

We have had a number of MLs, GLs, and X's in the (extended) family. I wouldn't spend my own family's money on any of them, unless I only planned to keep them maybe 3, 4 years while under warranty. Sorry, I just hate HATE dealerships and service calls and loaners and all that jazz.

    Cars We Drive!

Most Toyota/Lexus products do appear to be boring appliances that do what they gotta do without complaining; aesthetics are often lacking. Then again, appliances can be sexy too; my wife is/was jonesing for a Samsung refrigerator like no sane person should. There's a lot of excitement...

    Cars We Drive!

Since the Ubers around here won't get me much further than the city limits (and won't carry my motorcycles either), gotta take matters into our own hands.

    Motorcycles

That's a sweet smoker. I have an XT500, and have to think your bike is much lighter. Dual sports are severely underrated.

    Cars We Drive!

Concurring - check out Japanese luxury brands. Love German performance, hate German cost-of-ownership. Had a '68 Porsche 912 until a couple of years ago. It was a blast - light and nimble, reliable, and fairly cheap to operate. An oil pump failure caused ~$12,000 in engine damage ($9k of...

    What about small boats?

Photos are in order. How about some classic American lapstrakes, descending in size from 23' to 15'. Lyman 1959 Penn Yann Magellan Chris-Craft Sea Skiff 18 1960 Thompson Sea Lancer 17 1957 Sorg 15 Runabout (made in Detroit). Love the simple interiors with exposed steam-bent ribs...

    What headphones do you use?

Currently really, really loving my 3 pairs of ATE KZ in-ears, straight from China for $5/pair with free shipping. A wonderful value if you ask me, and the hordes of fanboys across the interwebs. At home, I don't really use phones but am looking at Grados.

    What about small boats?

I feel I may be alone on this, but is anyone here into small, trailerable boats? To be more specific, wooden boats! Sailboats, powerboats, rowboats, kayaks, canoes, or any other watercraft that can rot! I'm trying to motivate myself to start spring maintenance in time for when the weather...

    High-end aquaria

No kidding? No kidding. Minus the poison of course. They are harmless when they aren't fed their traditional diets. I like the colors.

    High-end aquaria

Is ADA a brand name or a type of hobby/aquarium setup? Are all water plant aquariums called ADA? ADA stands for "Aqua Design Amano," and most of their stuff is considered the bee's knees by aquageeks. Some say the quality isn't worth the price, but as far as glass goes they seem the best that...

    Acquariums in DC

The two best stores I've found are actually in Maryland, and somewhat hard to find: Scales Tropical Fish Warehouse 744 Cloverly Street Cloverly, Maryland 20905 301-384-7839 (They have a huge selection and have shrimp and planted tank supplies) Totally Fish \t 13671 Georgia Avenue Aspen Hill, MD...

    High-end aquaria

I've collected stones, rocks and other "natural things" for years, never quite knowing why. All of a sudden, they're in every catalog as home accessories. That said, I agree with bbaquiran, most driftwood is safe after long periods of soaking. A lot of these rocks though are a special...

    High-end aquaria

Parham, can we have a link to the tank you got? This is definitely something I will get into once I move into a larger place. I still have yet to decide if I will salt water or fresh water. I've got a small place as well, which is why I've got small tanks. Saltwater won't work for me, and I...

    High-end aquaria

I bought my supplies from Jeff down at ADG. Nice guy, very responsive and helpful, as are the internet forums. God bless the internet. Deal on a 45? Very nice. I've only got a Mini-S (UPS says it'll be delivered this morning) and two micro-nanos using glass containers from a home store. The 45...

    High-end aquaria

Seems like the Germans and Japanese take their aquariums very seriously, specifically planted tanks. No reefs for me, the salt is annoying. Looking back in the history books, it seems that Japanese "Aquarist" Takashi Amano started this recent trend of bonsai-style aquaria, so I decided to order...

    1965 Porsche

This electric Spyder 550 replica is a most interesting concept.... I contacted Mr. Ohler a couple of years back and he informed me that he sold it, and wasn't aware of any further development. I used to be into electric R/C racing, and could envision an electric 550 race series. Imagine the...
