Well, it's about a year later. Ended up being a penny pincher all year long, working my tail off, but still having some fun. I'll be headed to a top MBA program this Fall and to celebrate I just splurged. I got the Seamaster 2221.80 in Quartz.- tqd1

Yeah, I wanna be that guy with a VC watch. Still my shirts are bespoke and I wear Vass not Kenneth Cole. It's a job interview not a meeting with a political officer of the North Korean army! I'd rather be the guy with the VC job than the VC watch for now- tqd1

Interesting you mention that. Isn't it very difficult to discern who is going to be ranked in the top 5-10% of their class during recruiting? From what I know (and I could be wrong), recruiting gets under way within a month of arriving on campus, and most internship offers are handed out by the...- tqd1

+100 Don't go overboard on new clothes for bschool. You've got two years (I'm assuming you're doing a 2Y program?) before you're going to need to build a heavy suit rotation. Chances are, too, that you're going to be spending those two years in a small apartment without a ton of closet space...- tqd1

as a fomer investment banking analyst and associate, and a graduate of an *ahem* top 5 MBA program, here are my thoughts. similar to those of others: suits - get the 2 nicest solid-colored suits you can. solid navy and charcoal are fine. don't go too cheap. check B&S and wait for good sales to...- tqd1

This is true, but these days it goes the other way too. I see a bunch of trendyboyz wearing suits which are too tight with a 3/4" wide peak lapel. for interviews. Keep it middle of the road. The other weird thing is, young people seem to be up on suit/shirt/tie trends but their shoe sense is...- tqd1

Also, dont wear a pocket square for the interview. Never wore one in my life. And I know better than to rock Ferragamo loafers or Hermes ties to interviews. Usually go with a navy suit, white shirt, burgundy or light blue tie, AE Park Ave Black cap toes. ....along with my Champion white...- tqd1
