    Pebblegrain/country calf leather shoe care

I would appreciate if some of our experienced forum members could give any suggestions for the care of pebble grain type leather shoes. What are the differences and what are your maintenance routines?

    Vass Shoe help-larger size

Hey some fellow size 12 people.....it's good to know that I am not alone. I had the same concerns that are shared here but I went ahead and ordered a size 46 in the U last and it fits fine. I am comfortable US 12 in all the Alden and Allen Edmonds models that I have tried. I wear 11.5E in the...

    John Lobb 7000 sizing

I have the same experience as Manton. From my US size 12D, I size down a half size for my Edward Greens (11.5E UK in both 888 and 82 lasts) and a full size for my John Lobbs (11E UK for both 7000 and 8000 lasted shoes.

Help with Vass color: bordeaux, oxblood, and red cognac

I was hoping that someone could help me with the differences between these Vass colors. I have seen pics but I know the flash can change things. For those who own the or have seen them can you please describe them or post pics that reflect their IRL color? Thanks ......

    Your favorite suit label?

I agree with polar-lemon's assessment on the blue labels.....they can be significantly made slimmer without altering the balance of the coat. I've had my tailor take out as much as four-five inches in the waist area and the results were really good. Since purple label is slimmer to begin with...

    5 Diamond vs. 3 Star

I think Michelin only started rating U.S. restaurants just recently in the past few years. You are correct in that they have only rated San Fran/bay area, Las Vegas, New York and I think Chicago will be next. I think other cities are going to be rated eventually. I am pretty sure they have not...

Dinner at Per Se - Suit or Blazer?

I agree with above....Per Se is a level above Le Bernardin. While a very good restaurant, IMHO it is a step below the likes of Per Se, French Laundry, and Joel Robuchon.

    Top Chef

Yeah I can't blame them because like you said it's a show for entertaining. They are at risk first if they do poorly and several factors come into play on who get's eliminated. It's one of my favorite shows....even with the drama it's more legit to me than most of the Food Network stuff. I...

Valentine's Day tactics and money moves

The best one I ever had - in 2005, I loaded up my girl and kayaked out to an undeveloped barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico. It was awesome to be on a beach in Florida and have nothing but wilderness around you. Anyway, I packed wine, tent, dinner, a smoker bag, a sleeping bag (singular), and...

Are you superstitious nearing the full moon?

When I was a med student and an intern, there seem to be more violence, crazy stories, and baby births on the full moon. At least that's how it felt and many of the nurses and docs felt the same way. I mean it affects other animals so why not us right?

Anyone dine at the Oak Room at the Plaza Hotel in NY?

One of my favorite chefs in ATL left to take over the Oak Room at The Plaza Hotel. Joel Antunes a really good chef here. I saw that he only got one star from the NY times and was wondering if anyone here had dined there since he took over this past fall.

I think Jaime talking somewhat negatively about Ripert's dish did her no favors. I agree Leah should have been sent home. She had no grasp on what to do while Jaime seem to have insight in what she could have done to improve the outcome of her dish. The week before, I can't believe Fabio got...

    Be careful of icicles

I saw a cut from Grey's Anatomy on E's The Soup where someone slips and gets an icicle to the abdomen after it falls on her....it was awful/funny. I usually don't have to worry to much about that down in our area (ATL)
