Archivio J.M.Ribot is a clothing research project founded in 2015, with a mission to enhance history and craftsmanship through reinventing antique garments and textiles. It branches into two collections: Archivio and Riforma. Archivio consists of limited edition clothing made of antique fabrics collected in a textile archive; Riforma creates artisanal, one-of-a-kind pieces by combining parts of early 20th century garments, each of which has been deconstructed and reconstructed by hand to lose their original function while taking on a new contemporary appeal with meticulous attention to detail, slow sewing and extraordinary technical skills.
Fabric: parts from early 20th century heavyweight black wool pants and cotton shirt.
Features: single-breasted overcoat with a spread collar, individually unique antique buttons collected throughout Europe, all buttonholes are hand stitched, chest and front flap pockets, pants details near the hem and button fly reworked into an off-centered back vent, fully lined cotton shirt interior with button placket detail and one inside pocket, sashiko mending on the right shoulder—a precious gift of time. Handmade in Italy.
