This was a limited edition release for FW 20. The design is a recurring staple across RLs history – I believe the one pictured on Ralph below was an old Polo. This is the highest-grade make-up of this design in recent history. For this release in particular, I could only find this jacket at ralphlauren.com and Frans Boone, and both had extremely limited quantities of the 44 (like one each). This jacket was purchased from Ralph Lauren.
I listed this as NWT last Fall before deciding to keep the jacket. I have since had the following alterations made. All work done by Wazin Tailoring in NYC.
Sam Wazin and his team let out what fabric was available at the sides. They did this by going in from underneath the lining, and so I can't photograph the exact amount of wool material that was let out. However, I have added a photo to the listing that shows how much was taken out of the lining on each side, which I measured to be between 1/2" and 7/8th" on each side. I thought they had let material out from the rear, but I'm not certain as the lining was not altered. From feeling the woolen fabric beneath the lining, I would guess they did not let out anything from the rear. See photo below to see the lining area I'm referring to.
The sleeves were lengthened from the cuff and not the shoulder, in such a way that the outer fabric, which was originally sewn slightly folded-back on the back of the sleeve, was turned outward. However, I had the sleeve lengthened further through the addition of lining material. In total, about 1 3/8th” appear to have been added in length.
The third button, counting from the cuff, was moved from its original position to the primary position on the cuff and the original button-hole stitching - which was non-functional - was removed. I then had all three button holes made functional (button-holes opened).
Despite the alterations, this jacket fits small comparative to more classic designs. Specifically, the sleeves are narrower and the length shorter, as is the fashion. See measurements below for more details.
I went over the jacket with a fine-tooth comb and there are no tears, holes, or discoloration. There is spot on the lining below the left interior ticket pocket and a similar spot in the lining underneath right shoulder (see photos). The jacket was purchased with these spots already present. There is also the some fuzziness and pilling on both the center back and right sleeve of the jacket (see pics below for example). The jacket has not been dry-cleaned or otherwise exposed to cleaning.
Retail was $1742 after taxes.
