In this thread we talk about shoe care, post our favorite products, before and after photos of our shoes, etc. There seem to be a few opinions on whether to use wax, paste, polish, cream? On what kinds of shoes? How often? Which products? What to avoid? Etc. Perhaps we can all contribute words...

Does sunlight darken or lighten leather?

Anyone definitively know what sunlight does to leather? Does it make it darker or bleach it out? I would guess it lightens it by kind of bleaching it out, like you see on very old car seats sometimes. However, a girl I know got some sort of LV purse which has that natural tan leather on it and...

Plain toes vs. captoes - which are more formal?

Hi all - this is probably a rookie question, but can someone please tell me which are more formal, plaintoes or captoes? I was looking at some Alden shoes and they make both balmorals and bluchers in plain toe as well as captoe. My sense is that captoes are more formal, but I was curious...

    Vero Cuoio leather?

I was looking today at a pair of shoes which had "Vero Cuoio" stamped on them. I know that this translates to "real leather" in Italian but I am wondering if it is an indication of quality or just a marketing term to make corrected grain sound better. Anybody know?
