My first thought as well. When Oz was on HBO I used to think that any real-life warden who had as many murders as they did would likely lose his job pretty quickly. Seems like the Dept. of Corrections, or Federal Bureau of Prisons, or somebody would be keeping stats and stepping in when things got out of control.

For another interesting read, here's the blog of Thomas Whitaker, a prisoner on Texas Death Row who made national news for hiring a friend to kill his whole family and then escaping to Mexico. http://minutesbeforesix.blogspot.com/ He is a pretty damn good writer. Start reading from the early posts. I haven't read the more recent ones, but a lot of them seem to be rambling.

Damn, that's some crazy ****. Reminds me of when I was in the army and four guys tried to take me on to get my girl. I wound killing a few and they sent me to federal prison. Eventually me and some other inmates were put on a transport plane. Some other inmates hijacked it though, because they wanted to land it in the middle of the desert and escape. There was an undercover federal agent on board, but I distracted him and he got shot

I still couldn't let those bastards land the plane in the middle of the desert. So instead, I took over the plane full of convicts and crash-landed it into the Las Vegas Strip. Some crazy ****, I'm lucky to be alive.

I wouldn't say that it's a fabrication necessarily, but the kinds of things described do not happen in every prison.

I read it and while it all seems feasible I have a hard time believing that someone with those experiences would want to post it on a message board.
