I'm in college, walk to class everyday, and generally wear jeans every day. What shoes would you guys recommend (preferrably <$250).

As you'll hear from most of the shoe folk on this site, your shoes will last much longer if you give them a day off between wearings to dry thoroughly. A better option might be to find two pair you like for about 1/2 your budget each so that they last a while and don't start looking ratty too quickly. Check the buying and selling forum. Also, ebay is a great place to find some shoe bargains. Allen Edmonds makes solid shoes that usually retail for $300 but which you can buy on ebay for anywhere from $50 for a "worn a few times" pair to $100 and up for new or blemish models. eBay seller GrapevineHill has a bunch right now in the 125-150 range that might be an option - a split toe in brown leather with a rubber sole comes to mind. Good luck.

I love shoes as much as the next guy, but if you're still in college you'll look like a tool wearing Allen-Edmonds and the like. Buy a pair of driving mocs at a reasonable price - they'll be comfortable and stylish enough for college wear.

Buy yourself a nice pair of Clark Wallabees. Comfortable, relatively inexpensive, classic good looks.

Yeah, I never would have worn that shoe in college. I wore Dr. Martens in college for the most part. I mentioned the AE's b/c they are about as well-constructed a shoe as you're going to find for the money that GVH is asking, and the style I was thinking of is, at least in my mind, less "college-objectionable" than most of their shoes. Again, just my opinion.

Depending on your size, Ron Rider has some pretty cool Martegani "pub line" (I believe) shoes on ebay for around $100. Or at least I THINK they're cool. They might not be.
