Keep in mind that even conservative Patek is engaging in "size creep". As just one example, the first Calatrava, reference 96 from the '30s, was 31mm in diameter whereas the "new" Calatrava 5196 is 37mm. That's not huge, but it's a tangible trend.

I guess they are being forced to. With the oversized watch trend, 31mm watches risk being mistaken by the ill informed for women's watches.

Lange und Soehne company has no direct historical link with the original company other than that aforementioned family member (a great grandson). In any case, all of the Glashuette makers had to relearn the art of haute horologie from Swiss makers after Saxony became part of the so-called "Neuen Bundeslaender".

I understand and agree with Panzer's point - Lange is not an 'artifical' brand if you will. The company doesn't have an uninterrupted existence (like Vacheron) because of political events and was brought back to its former glory as soon as possible by the family member. Naturally, they had to re-learn things but they're now a top manufacture (see the innovative Lange 31 for what they're capable of producing in-house).

Also, watches (and case diameter by extension) are very much a personal choice. Many people (incl. myself) prefer watches in the 40mm-42mm range. That doesn't make them any less classic, but neither does it mean that watches in smaller sizes are "girly-man" watches.

Some of us have large wrists. Context is all.

Once Sator enters a watch thread, it's pretty much time to leave it...

I'm sure. What I'm not sure about is if I really want to see it. That watch must be in Ferrari price range....
