As for the question.... that is actually kinda hard. I always feel a musician can't go wrong with a suit.
Have you ever posted an outfit? To be honest I think people should wear variations of what they usually wear or like when going on stage; unless they are playing someone else, be it Kiss or an icecapades character. I mean folk bands could be one of the instances where that workwear thing might work if that's your thing but then if you like suits don't bother.
