Since this is SF, and we probably all buy a bunch of stuff online with our credit cards, I was wondering what the credit card landscape of our members looks like. AMEX, Visa, Mastercard, or other -- and why? I'm sure we all have our preferences over cash-back versus travel rewards cards, etc., but why? I'll start: CIBC Visa. But only because AMEX sucks in Canada. I don't particularly like this card, but the aeroplan miles work out well based on my annual spending levels. PS - this thread was inspired by redflagdeals.com (frugal Canadians will appreciate this).

Amex. It's not taken everywhere, but my card has a nice rewards structure.

Chase Freedom Visa card. I get about $500 in cashback annually, and I put mostly everything on it. I need to switch to an air miles card soon though.

I like my Discover Platinum card.

They were the first to give me a really high credit limit and I can use the cashback bonus to get Brooks Brothers gift cards.

Bradford, you're the first person that I've heard of that has a Discover card (honestly, they are very rare in Canada).

Robin, what's the % cash-back of your card? Is it tiered? Is there an annual fee?

What are the bps on their fx transactions? I usually stay clear of Capitol One and MBNA because of their sleazy marketing tactics.

I've had them, I just have not used one in over 5 years. I do have a store card or two, I just remembered, my wife uses those more than I do. I have available credit and our utilization rate is very low so I don't need to carry around any plastic. I grew up in a cash is king environment.
