Had a Gaffel Kolsch and an Allagash White at Kuma's tonight. I've had the Gaffel before and I like it b/c it's so easily drinkable, but it is not a good beer snob beer I imagine. Good for me b/c I am not a huge fan of beer and am trying to learn to appreciate them. But the Allagash White, boy howdy that is a damn good beer.

Is there a difference between normal tonic and Indian tonic water?

Local barley wine. Smells like dates, yummy.

I switched from Canadian Club straight to Cutty Sark on the rocks. Yes I'm slumming it tonight.

Really, Cutty is OK. Better than most blends at that level, and it has some nice history being Berry Bros and Rudd's house blend.

I have a Murray Mac Caol Ila 10 which is just singing wonderful and joyous notes of salt, sweet, and peat to me tonight.

Westmalle Trappist and Rodenbach Grand Cru, both of which were gifts.

The Westmalle is excellent, but slightly disappointing: not my favourite Trappist beer (that's still St Benedict's), as it's slightly bitter, but it's still very very good. It also crosses off another Trappist beer: only de Koningshoeven left!

The Rodenbach is also good: sweet and fruity, as well as slightly sour.
