Wardrobe with two different shirt sizes due to lifting

Hello SF,

My life is in phases of lifting weights in the gym and studying in the library, like 4 months of regular gym or library. I got a quick question for the lifters out there. Others feel free to chime in.

What's your opinion that I keep two sets of different shirt sizes in my wardrobe? I have lots of 15 3/4 shirts. And when I put on said shirt after the gym, the shirt is JUST about fitting. I'm starting my gym course, so it'll be overhead and bench presses with protein shakes for 4 months.

Your opinion on getting 16 shirts on my next round of purchase?

I know the impulse is to buy to be prepared - but chances are you're going to end up with 16 shirts that don't fit quite right because you're trying to "grow into them".

I'd advise taking it slow and buying replacement shirts ad hoc as you need them. Preemptively buying for the future never works out (full disclosure I have an untailored Eidos sportcoat sitting in my closet "for the future").

This is coming from someone who used to be very skinny and easily wear a M (40 sportcoat) in anything and now hits the gym 5-6 times a week and now my sizing is all over the place (L, XL, 44+- sportcoat)

If there is a pattern to the sizes you need, I suppose you could have two sets. You do however run the risk of having two sets of unfashionable shirts.

Rather than this, why not regularise your life. Surely studying is not a 24/7 occupation and you could do both at different times of the day?Seems silly not to do so.
