Fake or Real (Authentic, Genuine, etc.) -- Official Authentication Thread

Hey all,

I recently purchased this Loro Piana Turtleneck off of Ebay in New without tags condition. The only reason I am questioning it's authenticity is because upon taking off the sweater for the first time, the tag on the back fell off on one side. My concern is the stitching holding the tags on. Considering reatail on one of these things are they genuine?

These fakes are getting good if it is... the tag looks slightly off to me. Luckily with baby cashmere you should be able to tell by feel. Do you have a genuine baby cashmere piece you can compare with? Previously I would have said looks real but they are getting VERY good and now you have to look at everything like how the tags are attached etc.

Conscious the photos are not great. What would you say? I haven't seen them faked before but then I have not actively searched the counterfeit market

From what I can see, the text on the "rain and wind protection" portion looks off. Could be the photo but doesn't that R look messy? Another great place to look is the logo on the back of the zipper. Remember, Loro Piana is LP because they don't allow for any mistakes.

That's authentic. I've never seen anyone fake a department store tag and put it on a fake.

Hey SF! Went to purchase these Loro Piana engadin cardigans but have suspicions they might be fake (tag wrong color, stitching differences) any help would be appreciated! I have also included pictures of the real ones from Loro pianas website. Thanks in advance

I agree. Fakes are getting VERY good with the increase in popularity of LP. For me, the stitching on the care tag is the giveaway. LP would never use white stitching on a black tag. I've also never seen them mix and match white and black tags. Those photos on the hangers conveniently having multiple colors of a piece also look very reminiscent of fake sellers in China I've seen.

Heyo, I recently found this on Ebay and was wondering if this was real or not? I just couldn't find the exact model or anything about this Baby Cashmere Blend (46% Baby Cashmere, 38% Linen, and 16% Silk). In the first photo the logo on the tag seems gold but not in the rest of the pics. Any help appreciated!

Looks legit. I have not seen any sellers selling fake BC Blends. Ask them to send you the back side of the zipper. There is a detailed LP logo there that they almost never get right.

TLDR: Has anyone ever seen a zipper come from LP with the logo messed up like that?

All- I've got a super interesting one that, if fake, fooled and maybe is continuing to fool me...

I got this fall 2022 collection, Cashmere Harvey Bomber Jacket on eBay "used" but seemily new with zero pilling etc. This, I think is the first giveaway of a fake on there: selling as used but clearly in new condition.

Take a look at these photos. For much of the winter, I was happily wearing this, so when it looks a little tired etc, don't use that as a reason that you think its fake. First, I noticed some slight pilling, which, given how I care for my items surprised me. I only have other LP in baby cashmere and that barely pills.

Everything is SPOT ON the feel of the cashmere, the quality of everything, even the way the zipper zips feels distinctly LP quality (I have a 1/4 zip from them in BC)!

Potential signs:
The care tags looks spot on BUT none of my other LP has care tags only secured at the corners instead of a stitch all the way across the top. Can someone confirm if they have authentic LP with the care tag secured like that?

Giveaway IMO:
The logo on the back of the zipper is not right. My main purpose of this post is to see if anyone has ever seen a zipper come from LP with the logo messed up like that? Everything else on this bomber is SO legit I cant help but think that maybe LP is slipping lately... but I know better.... let me know what you guys think. If fake this is CRAZY. I have never seen anything like this.

This eBay user posts 5-6 items for auction at a time and both of these specific ones sold for under $100. One for $50. I bought a cardigan a while back and was unsure after arrival if it is authentic, but it’s the only Kiton piece I own.

Anyways, can you all tell from pics?

Personally the stitching looks a little too irregular and also the thread doesn't match the color of the jacket. But as I never owned anything from LP i don't have another item to compare and maybe it's just an old jacket

Hello, I bought these Loro Piana pieces off Ebay and wanted to make sure if they're authentic? I can't seem to find any information from Loro Piana's website when I search up the style of the garment. To be fair though, going through an archived version of Loro Piana's website and searching garments from way back then doesn't show me anything today, so yeah. I just want to be an extra 110% sure and have peace of mind.
