Ian, I am looking forward to your forthcoming fit(s)! I would say that we needn't post prices -- though if you feel the need to, you can. People have different price points, and I want the focus to be on how great we can look when dressed-up in garments found at a bargain. Just how much of a bargain can be left to the imagination. It would be nice to hear if a garment has had little/no alteration, though, since that is just a bonus cool factor (e.g., that smoking jacket was completely unaltered for me =) .
*suggestion* should we start posting prices like on the thrifting contest website that a few thrift thread members won/entered

also it would be nice to get shots of footwear
And +1 to including good shots of footwear. Where are all those opera pumps I see thrifters bragging about?

Wore this for a law school prom. No alterations yet, since it's really more of a winter-weight tux and I'll probably change shape by the next time I'll next wear it. Also trying to find a better-matching bowtie, which until now has been impossible due to the scale of the grosgrain.

Details
tux: 1940's midnight blue flannel, thrifted by dexconstruct
PS: Turnbull & Asser, thrifted
Studs, links & tie: Free, store was closing

yes yes I know the pictures suck but you won't see better ones until at least next monday after all the pictures of senior ball have been distributed
tux is vintage thrifted for 10.99
shirt is online mtm for 80
bowtie is a gift
ps bought from nickelcobalts online shop for like 12
cufflinks were an extra from capnwes
watch is passed down from my dad
braces are from ebay for 20
shoes are ae's stolen from my dad
tailoring was around 100, I lengthened sleeves slimmed pants and nipped the waist

I am getting slightly better at tying bow-ties...
also I really freaking love this shirt, spread collar french cuff covered placket is super versatile I would be happy only owning this and a light blue button down collar shirt

no ******* clue about this brand but I love the 60s looking geometric patterns in the lining
the roped and slightly extended shoulders really add some weight to my silhouette (not everything can be soft shouldered and Italian right?)
also I love the lower button stance that buttons right at my belly button
some of you might like dual vents on a tux but I am glad this is ventless
overall the only things I would change about this jacket would be to give it red Dracula esque lining, turnback cuffs and slightly wider lapels, but I honestly don't think anyone at my senior ball would notice these details anyways...

I swapped out to fabric covered buttons I sourced on the bay
this is also probably the most accurate photo of the actual color of the suit...

(still haven't pressed the shirt

wtf is this weave called?

these shoes don't polish any brighter and it is annoying :( also I like the subtle brougeing it elevate the shoe above a normal boring old plain-toe (note to myself I need some real socks that are not from uniqlo)

I thought you anal retentive clothing nerds would appreciate how well I matched my metals and leathers in my accessories

I posted in the vintage thread, and was directed here. I think it's about time someone gave Orgetorix a run for his money - as those are some smashing fits. Here are my two recent wedding fits, largely vintage/thrifted:

Jacket & pants from a local consignment shop $140, needed sleeves and pants shortened, and the pants let out half an inch in the seat, and about an inch in the waist. Vest was thrifted online for $50, and needed to be taken in at the sides, which was another $35. Studs and links - double-sided links! - thrifted for $15. Shirt and bow tie from Clermont Direct, so new, but cheap. Shirt needed alteration, because all my shirts do.

And now the real masterpiece. It's not as much vintage stuff as the other morning dress fit on here, and a little less formal, but the morning coat required NO alteration, from savvyrow.co.uk. The hat was from eBay - real silk plush, in fantastic shape. The underbrim and brim binding could stand to be replaced, but that's easy stuff; the plush is the important part. The shirt was sort of thrifted; my mom picked it up on her vacation to NYC in a shop that sells 3 shirts for $100. Waistcoat is new from mytuxedo.co.uk, tie and trousers are new from Brooks Brothers. Stick pin was thrifted from Value Village, of all places, and the cuff links I inherited from my grandfather. Monogrammed linen, hand rolled, pocket square bought from an etsy seller for $10. Gave them to the fathers, grandfathers, and groomsmen as part of their gift. Watch was a wedding day gift from my bride.

shog%5B1%5D.gif
thrifted by me
tuxedo: vintage thrifted by me
bow: gift
shirt: charles tyrwhitt thrifted by me
silk cummerbund: ebay
brace: ebay
shoes: random low level italian brand from ebay
SWD is going to **** all over this challenge, I predict the top 5 will all be swd
right now snowman had my vote

Unfortunately it is too warm in Berkeley for me to wear a scarf irl, BUT I did just get a pair of black suede slippers in the mail, and of course had to put on my whole tux rig to try them on. I then threw a scarf on top and called it a day.

anyway here is another one of my ****** mirror selfie nonsense entries that narrowly meets the challenge criteria

My daughter had a princess themed party, and I went as the butler from Sofia the First. 1958 Savile Row morning suit. Off in a few spots, but not worth tailoring for how exceedingly rarely I will get use out of it. The original wool waistcoat had been destroyed by moths, so I improvised.
