I was on a lengthy SF hiatus because I felt like I had learned everything I needed to, and then I moved on. But I've resurfaced because I got interested in watches and also because what fit me 20 years ago no longer does.

I like the Moonswatch and I like the divide it's illustrating by its mere presence, because I've seen this **** before. The watch industry needs people with the hobbyist mentality (e.g., "This watch *****") because they're the ones with new money coming in. The folks who are super deep into it represent a tiny fraction of the market. Sure, they're important to a degree, but running a watch company that caters just to that fraction is probably not a sustainable business case. Right now I'm seeing folks interested in the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch and that's exactly where Omega wants them to go. Up until this point we were just talking about how it's a bit under the radar. Not anymore!

I owned the 356 Fliegerchrono. 39mm, 7750 based, nice domed acrylic crystal and decent WR at 100M. It's a good value as are all the Sinns. Same movement and bracelet as the 144.
Cool. I like the tach bezel and stick hour markers on the 144 rather than the 356's numerals, yet I like the numerals on the IWC chronos 🤷🏼

I think my next bigger watch purchase will be a chrono unless I happen to be allocated a 36mm Explorer in the meantime. Mainly looking at a hesalite Speedy or that Sinn 144. I know they're very different in style (and price) and the Speedy is an icon, but I am very intrigued by that 144.

It may or may not bother you but 7750 chronographs like the Sinn 356 (and I assume the 144) have a rotor that you can hear and feel. It didn’t bother me but it’s quite noticeable.

Shall we start a SW&D "not Patek" watch appreciation thread? What do you think @LA Guy - is there anything similar on that side of things? From G Shock to RMs kind of thing.

“We would therefore like to remind that there will be more opportunities to purchase the watches in the selected Swatch Stores in the coming weeks as it is not a limited edition.”

Swatch should probably do something about the blue color from the Mission to Neptune rubbing off on skin. Earlier someone posted a YouTube vid saying they thought it was from the decal, but then posted another one that showed the coloring from the case rubbing off on a Q-tip. Pretty bizarre how that slipped through, they've been using this stuff before for other watches.

Would a lot of people care? Dunno, but I would. I wonder if the other color variants do this.

Me too… Really trying to stay away from the CEsspool this time though. Down that road lies madness.

Cartier just unveiled a new Cartier Tank Chinoise on their IG story. It makes sense as this is the 100th Anniversary of this model. I really liked the previous CPCP version. This one I'm not sure about the flat textured top surface. I hope they will show us some actual photos soon.

Cpcp better :(
