I actually really like Simon’s style quite often, (the more recent Simon, rather than the older all suits all the time Simon) and he’s done it well here .. the jacket especially subverts the whole thing nicely and the shoes work well.

Suede or pebble grain are my solution to your conundrum.
Snuff suede for mid- and light-gray, chocolate suede for darker shades.
For pebble grain, dark brown for darker flannels; something like a scotch grain works well too.
For the style of shoe, I prefer loafers for summer, and chukkas for winter. I also just got some split toe Norwegians for winter and those are great.

Thanks dude- pebble grain is an especially good shout I think, and I don’t own a pair.

Hi everyone,

I was looking for some fitting advice regarding Drake's chore jackets, specifically the Khaki Green Japanese Selvedge Corduroy Five-Pocket Chore Jacket (https://www.drakes.com/fr/clothing/...se-selvedge-corduroy-five-pocket-chore-jacket).

I have never purchased a Drake's jacket, and do not have any stores nearby to try it on in person, so I am relying on the measurements posted on their website. I am 5'11, 180 lbs, measure 18.75" shoulder, 41.5" chest/back, and 15.75" arms. The reason why I post the arms as well is because I have difficulties fitting in the sleeves of slim cut clothing.

Chore jacket measurements: Size 38 - pit to pit - 21.9, shoulder 18.2; Size 40 - pit to pit - 22.6, shoulder 19; Size 42 - pit to pit - 23.4, shoulder 19.8.

Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you!

I find the sleeves on my denim chore jacket to be slim, so I would recommend 40.

I don't own one of their chore coats, but you seem more like a 42 to me. What is your typical sportcoat size (if you know it)?

Thank you everyone for the advice so far, I added the 42 sizing in my post just in case that becomes an option as well. I was told by my tailor that I am a 42R for suits, not certain if that applies to sport coats as well. I live in North America, so I am not sure how the cuts differ from Drake's.

Re size chore jacket - I have a size 42 chore jacket, which is my regular size for blazers. As for Drake’s shirts I usually pick a 16.5 or 17 depending on if I want a looser fit. Imho the Drake’s look is for clothing to be comfortable and somewhat looser fitting. I do work out a lot, e.g. bench press, shoulders and so on. Funny enough, when I was in the store 2 months ago I tried on a raglan coat and thought a size 40 fits me better than a size 42, so it’s not always the same size.

I’m almost exactly the same size as you (180,80) and I own several in a 40 and find it a little tight over anything other than a single layer. You could probably get away with either the 40/42 but 42 is likely better.

Anderson Shepard is nice, though expensive. Turnbull & Asser also. I think Budd’s makes sleeveless cardigans too, and I’m sure New & Lingwood does.
