I'm very surprised as to HOW MUCH kiton people are finding in thrifts
I can speak of my experience, in my 7 years of thrifting, through the finest thrift stores
Midtown manhattan, brooklyn, New jersey [ The true goldmine} and philly
I have only ever stumbled across 3 items.
Hundreds of thrift stores, in AMAZINGLY Affluent areas, and yet only 3 garments.
in my many thrifting adventures, i've found anderson & Sheppard, H Huntsman, a one of a kind CARACENI Super 180's Suit, John lobb, edward green, Etc.
I guess it's just a matter of luck

Also, has anyone ever considered becoming a personal shopper by way of thrift?
Perfect example, i stumble across a Burberry london 2 button charcoal suit
Size 42L But closer to a 42R.
Instead of placing the suit on Fee bay, i simply broker the garment at cost { In this case $14}
Plus say a reasonable finders fee of?
Buyer pays for shipping at cost...ETC

So in a nutshell, suit sells on average { E-bay} for approx $80-199
Buyers cost...14.99 + 20.00 + shipping
Avg cost $42

Another example...Hermes tie
$2 + 20
Total $22
Half of e-bays cost

I guess my point in all this is, some of us LOVE thrifting, Just for the heck of it!
But unfortunately, i cannot wear a size 46R HUGO BOSS SUIT, but i can certainly take a photograph of it.....Then post it.
sell it for cost { Lets say $19.99}
Then a buyers fee

Seems simple right?

You see, that's the paradox that is thrifting! I've been to Jersey many times, and have never found anything that compares to my Manhattan scores. Yet it's been a gold mine for you. Perhaps we should exchange our thrifting knowledge?

Well, they are a blend - 55% cashmere, 45% wool - but they still are very smooth. A little heavy for this weather, but they'll be enjoyed come fall/winter.

Okay, I had to take these with my worthless camera phone as I had forgotten I had lent my real camera to a lady friend.

If anyone could provide any information about age (or authenticity I guess), I'd greatly appreciate it as I really don't have any experience with Borrelli.

Borelli = fake Borrelli = real wait - your thrift shop charges $14.99 for used shirts? the highest I've seen is $6.99 around here (East Coast).

Value Village has staff looking up some of the stuff in the internet. That's what one manager told me. Same with Goodwill.
They probably end up here at SF and threads like this do more harm than good because these threads come up on google searches. So the stores get smarter, the prices go up.
Not a good idea to boast and brag anyway because in the end, no one really cares what you got but you.
Some customers get so excited right in the stores they feel a need to blabber out to anyone who will listen to them what a great find they got. its pretty stupid of them because they will only educate and encourage competition for themselves...doh!
Got a good thing? keep it quiet and it stays a good thing for a nice long time.
I tried the thrift store thing for the last 2 months and found only crap.
Whoever of you guys is finding really expensive stuff, you guys are lucky.

There's been some discussion here on the points you raise. And I take it you are taking your own advice in writing the last 2 sentences?

For those of you that are thrifting and hitting dry spells, I suggest you read the posts of pejsek ( on this thread and on others ).

He is the Albert Pujols of thrifting. Arguably, the best ever
