Diller and Scofidio's latest project (Lincoln center) isn't exactly striking a wonderful chord with many, however. And I don't mean just the public.
Their museum in Boston is a big hit and they have been as or more involved in the art community than any other living architects. I'm not sure Lincoln Center is enough to damage that reputation no matter how underwhelming it is. I don't really have an opinion on it. It was still under construction when I last saw it, but they were working with really tough conditions on Avery Fisher Hall. There is only like 18" or so of space from the hall's structural shell to the inside veneer. Their only choice was what material they wanted to use for the interior. It's made from the wood of a single tree in Africa (I think) that was laser cut in a continuous sheet of "wallpaper." There's a good Charlie Rose segment on it. @1'00"
