Hi. I am so glad I found this site. It is awesome. I have a question. I have a hell of a time finding suits. I am 42 jacket but 31 waist. I never seem to find anything with more than a 6inch drop. All suits I buy need to have major major tailoring of the pants and the jacket. (at least it seams like major tailoring).

Is there any hope other than going custom which is wicked expensive? Or do I continue looking for suits I can buy in separates? Thanks.

The intermediate step is made-to-measure, where a maker takes separates and tailors them to fit you. Nearly as expensive as custom, but not quite. You'll wind up paying for a brand-name suit, so it might be cheaper to go custom. mytailor.com will produce a suit for 600-700 bucks, which will be fit better than anything you buy off the rack.

Thanks guys. I will check mytailor.com.

I have found that suits by Varvatos and Boss require the least tailoring but they still require at 3+ inches taken off the waist.

I've heard nordstrom will mix and match, but I can't promise. Some of their stores have a pretty solid selection.
