Suit Fit Dilema

So I've an important interview coming up and need to look my best hence the need for a well fitted suit.
I am a 44 chest however no matter what jacket I try they always seem to be a little tight in the shoulder. Having never had a suit altered before and with a completely bespoke suit being out of my price range, am I better to size up and have everything baggy and long and then getting that tailored? Or go with the 44" chest and seeing if I can get the shoulders let out a cm or two?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I would not bank on being able to have the shoulder adjusted. I'd buy a jacket that fits in the shoulder (and hopefully sleeves as well) and see what the tailor can take out of the sides and back to make it fit.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, tailored suit would be the only option. And you can easily find some decent prices definitely not too expensive. I have been working with my tailor for a while form overseas and his quality his top notch for super amazing prices!

Thanks for the replies guys! time's also an issue (as due to the nature of the job they leave it to the very last minute to let you know whether you've made it to the next stage) or I would've sent away for one like you suggested.
I'll most likely have to size up and get it taken in by a local tailor...
