After reading this for the first time, I have to at least give you an ovation for not killing yourself or your roomate in all this time. I can relate somewhat, my roomate last week had no clue whether the current queen of England was Elizabeth II or Queen Victoria. Coming from Canada, it's like not knowing that it's George Washington on the one dollar bill, but worse. Anyways, good luck, I think you'll need it.

An african just out of the shower still smells stronger than me after 2 days with no shower, and I say this seriously.

Really? I would have expected to notice that in my years in Kenya and trips within the continent.

He does sound a bit out of his depth one way or another. Great experience for you Conne. You will know how stupid 'some people' sound when they don't learn about the culture they happen to be mixing in. . . some countries, maybe not unfamiliar to you, are like production lines for such people.

Practical tip - aside from the need to bathe, he should drink more water tell him it'll help his tennis to be very hydrated.
